Parents, if you’re interested in finding a great indoor sport for your kids to participate in, consider the fun sport of roller hockey! At Gloucester County’s Deptford Skating and Fun Center we offer two youth hockey programs: Learn to Play Hockey- Skills, Drills & Learn to Play Program AND our DSC Youth Hockey League.
Learn to Play Hockey at DSC
Ideal for first time players and roller hockey novices, our learn to play hockey program teaches kids from ages 3-13 (suggested ages) the following:
- Skating Techniques- Forwards and Backwards
- Stopping and Turning
- Proper handling of a Hockey Stick
- Passing / Receiving of the Puck
- Scoring Goals
Our youth roller hockey coaches also try to instill a sense of comradery and teamwork in all of our students, as with all of our sport’s programs. This is a six-week instructional program; ages 3-6 years old meet on Saturday mornings from 9am – 10am and ages 7-13 years old meet on Tuesday nights from 5pm – 6pm. *Next programs begin September 29th for ages 7-13 and October 3rd for ages 3-6, so sign up soon!
Required Equipment includes: roller blades (rentals available), hockey stick, hockey helmet with cage, hockey gloves, athletic cup and shin guards. If your child needs equipment, DSC can help! We have great deals on new and used equipment, just contact Nick at Nick6659@gmail.com.
DSC – Youth Hockey League
All skill levels are welcome to compete in our fantastically fun youth roller hockey league! DSC offers three competitive age divisions for this exciting sport, with suggested ages ranging from 5-14 years old. (Required equipment is the same as above.)
The Fall 2015 League Fee is $115 and includes:
- Registration
- Team Jersey
- Player Evaluation Clinic
- 8 Regular Season Games (typically held on Monday evenings; Wednesday being the alternate day)
- End of Season Pizza Party and Award Medal
- Experienced Coaches and Referees
*Parents please register your kids for this Fall League before October 6th!
